Gary R. Greenblatt – Of Counsel

Gary R. Greenblatt has been practicing law in Maryland for over 40 years. His practice is focused on debtor/creditor issues, including bankruptcy, out-of-court workouts, receiverships and assignments. His bankruptcy experience includes representation of debtors in Chapter 7 and 11 cases, creditors’ committees in Chapter 11 cases, and individual creditors in all cases. He was a member of the trustee panel, acting as a Chapter 7 trustee, for over 10 years. His non-bankruptcy experience includes acting as a receiver and assignee in state court insolvency proceedings and representing debtors in non-judicial workouts.

Mr. Greenblatt was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1978. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the American Bar Association and a member and former director of the Bankruptcy Bar Association of Maryland. He is licensed in the State of Maryland and is authorized to practice in the state and federal courts of Maryland, the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and United States Supreme Court. In 1995, he was voted “Baltimore’s Best Bankruptcy Attorney” by Baltimore Magazine. In 1999, he was recognized among the Top 10 List of Baltimore’s “Favorite Business Lawyers” by The Daily Record, the daily journal for the Baltimore legal community.

Mr. Greenblatt has extensive experience in the area of creditors' rights with respect to husband and wife property. He litigated the two leading cases in this area of law before the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit – Greenblatt v. Ford, 638 F.2d 14 (4 th Cir. 1981) and Sumy v. Schlossberg, 777 F.2d 921 (4 th Cir. 1985). Both cases are widely viewed as the controlling authority in Maryland on this issue.
